Mint Artists Guild - Creating Justice & Joy
Mint Artists Guild's first exhibit of the fall opens Oct. 1 in an unconventional venue near downtown Detroit.
The exhibit at Brewery Park, home of Crain's Communications and other businesses, features work by Mint Creative Summer Workers from 2021 and 2022 on the themes of justice and joy. Select pieces will be available for purchase, and some will be turned into limited edition prints.
Mint's exhibit is intended to encourage conversations about how we contribute to greater justice and joy in our worlds and in the world.
The exhibit includes such themes as transgender rights, women breaking the glass ceiling and Black Lives Matter. It also has some happier paintings about joy, including one where ice cream is prominent.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 pm. A Facebook event is available here so you may invite friends and get updates.
Brewery Park is located at 1155 Gratiot between downtown Detroit and Eastern Market. Guests may enter by telling the security guard at the entrance that they are there to see the art show.
The Justice & Joy exhibit is up through Oct. 31 - and then we will hang our Paint Detroit with Generosity exhibit at the Michigan State University - Detroit Center.
