Director, MSU Detroit Center
Jena Baker-Calloway is director of the MSU Detroit Center. Calloway joined University Outreach and Engagement in 2011 after holding leadership positions across several sectors, including nonprofit, health care, and higher education. As director of the MSU Detroit Center, she has responsibility for administration and operations, UOE programming, and community-university partnership development. She has led the expansion of the MSU Science Festival in Detroit, hosted pre-college workshops for Detroit youth, and created a pre-college scholarship for Detroit area youth with the generous support of corporate and individual sponsors.
In her role at Michigan State University, Calloway serves as a community advisory member to several community and nonprofit organizations, acts as a grant consultant and reviewer, and is an appointed member of the Wayne State University Institutional Review Board. She is also a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce – Leadership Detroit Class XXXV.
A lifelong Detroiter, Calloway holds both a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and a master’s degree in public health policy and administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

Office Assistant IV, MSU Detroit Center
Carolyn Walker is the office assistant IV for the MSU Detroit Center. She provides clerical and technical support to faculty and staff. Under the leadership of the director, Ms. Walker assists with the day to day operations and coordinates special projects. An alumna of Focus: Hope Network Administration Program, Ms. Walker graduated at the top of her class and has obtained industry recognized CCNA and A+ Certifications.

Office Assistant II
Rachel Walkowicz is the office assistant II for the MSU-Detroit Center. Under the supervision of the director, Jena Baker-Calloway, and office assistant IV, Carolyn Walker; Mrs. Walkowicz assists with clerical and technical support for the MSU Detroit Center, manages the site's website and social media accounts, and coordinates with MSU staff, vendors, and partners for various events.
In addition to her role with the MSU Detroit Center, Mrs. Walkowicz supports the Study of Active Neighborhoods in Detroit, led by Dr. Amber Pearson. In this role, Mrs. Walkowicz acts as a Logistics Coordinator, assisting with the day to day tasks and logistics of the study during its active months.
Mrs. Walkowicz graduated with her ABA in general business from Macomb Community College in 2015.
